Blue Water Rafting
Blue Water Rafting is one of the few Molokini snorkel companies that also offers snorkel and rafting tours to the remote Kanaio coastline along Maui's southern shore. Kanaio is the site of Maui's last volcanic eruption in the 1780s and the underwater lava flows, lava arches and sea caves built a seabed of clarity and visibility for some of the most beautiful snorkeling on the island. This part of the island is very difficult to access by land. The lava fields are very abrasive because of their extremely porous texture. The texture looks almost like a sponge and the rock will eat through all but the most rugged footwear or truck tires. Once you get into the water you will understand why the ancient Hawaiians would set up fishing encampments along this coastline. This texture is a blessing for the undersea world. When you get into the water you will see how the corals are able to easily root into the stone and grow into some amazing formations. These coral formations provide shelter and food for the abundant populations of fish that inhabit this region.
