Garden Luau

The first thing you realize when you arrive at the Smith's Luau along the majestic Wailua River is that it is much more than just a luau. The luau grounds are located on a lush 30-acre botanical and cultural garden nestled along the river and below the ancient Malae Heiau Temple. You're free to roam the well tended estate prior to gathering for the "imu ceremony" where the "pua" (pig) is harvested from the underground oven. These grounds are half the fun and you'll see so much of the beautiful plant life that Kauai has to offer surrounding its multi-acre lagoon. You're delicious dinner is served in a giant fresh air "hale" but the best is yet to come. After dinner you'll walk about a hundred yards or so to a spectacular outdoor amphitheater where you'll be treated to your Hawaiian show. The stars are out, the cool gentle breezes of the evening gently caress your face and the torch-lit show provides the special ambiance not found in any other Hawaiian extravaganza. The Smith luau has been a favorite on the islands for decades and is re-visited time and again by returning Kauai guests.

• GARDEN LUAU AND INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT -This lush 30-acre botanical and cultural garden is nestled alongside the sacred Wailua River and below the ancient Malae Heiau Temple. Guests are invited to stroll through the one mile of garden pathways before the luau or take a guided tram tour.
  After the Imu Ceremony guests will enjoy cocktails, music and the luau dinner. Entertainment will feature The International Pageant showcasing dances and songs from Tahiti, Hawaii, China, Japan, the Philippines, New Zealand and Samoa.
