Some of the best dolphin watching can be seen from the twenty-four foot rigid hull inflatables (similar to ones used by the Coast Guard and the Navy Seals) used by Kauai Sea Tours. The types of dolphins seen along the Kauai coastline are the Rough-toothed Dolphin, the Spotted Dolphin, the Bottlenose Dolphin and the Spinner Dolphins. Of these varieties the most common found in these waters are the Bottlenose Dolphins and the Spinner Dolphins. The Spinner Dolphins are by far the most common and they are also the most fun to watch. The Spinners are usually somewhat larger than most people think often six feet in length and weighing as much as two-hundred pounds. The dolphins can often be found in pods consisting of over one-hundred individuals.
