Jack Harter Helicopters
Jack Harter was the very first helicopter company to operate its tour on Kauai starting back in 1962. Since Kauai was the first island in Hawaii to offer such tours, that would give them the honor of being the very first helicopter tour company in the state. Although Jack is retired now he still lives on the island and still has a hand in the industry. Originally of course, Jack flew all the flights himself and over the years became the initiator of many of the policies that have become a part of helicopter standards on the island today. Among the most fantastic of the flights that the company currently offers are those that fly with "door's off". Although they seem a bit scary at first until you get the picture that you are fully, thoroughly and safely strapped in, these flights are amazing and allow you to view the island with a sense of closeness, integration and communion that is impossible to obtain in the customarily used enclosed vehicles.

This flight is flown at slower speeds then the shorter tour and is able to explore further into Kauai's valleys and canyons because of the added length. The pilot is able to turn the helicopter slower and more often, setting you up for optimal photographic opportunities. This is by far the most detailed helicopter tour available on Kauai. *Restrictions: Seats are high off the ground, must be agile enough to climb in without assistance. Do not bring any loose items, dress in warm clothes - it will get cool and windy, cameras must have a wrist strap or neck band, long hair should be tied up! Contact lenses and glasses can be blown off when you stick your head out of the helicopter remove unnecessary items from pockets. No children under the age of 10. No lap riders, front seat passenger can weigh no more than 150 lbs. If a person is over 250 lbs they will be charged the price of an additional seat.
