If you’re a water sports enthusiast then this freshwater twist of kayaking is something you might want to consider taking advantage of while you’re on Kauai. Ali’i Kayaks offers kayak trips up the Wailua Valley to a place that was once home to the Hawaiian Ali’i (royalty). The Wailua River Valley is a very special and sacred area to the Hawaiian people. | Description: Your kayak journey will lead you through a sacred valley once reserved only for the Alii (Royalty). You will paddle approximately 4 miles round trip; up the Wailua River's North Fork, there you will disembark your kayak and begin your hike through a tropical rainforest. This sacred valley is lined with scenic waterways and cascades great for a refreshing dip. You will hike about 2 miles round trip to 120-foot Secret Falls (trail conditions can be slippery and muddy at times). This is an adventure an active family can enjoy, rated moderate to strenuous. Two tours offered, early tour at 8:30am and a later tour for 10:30am.
Departure Point: Check in at Wailua River Visitor Center, 191 Wailua Road in Kapaa
Operates: Monday-Saturday, check in around 8:30am or 10:30am, times are estimates under normal river and trail conditions. Alternate times may vary with season. *

Paddle boarding is very easy to learn, within one hour you can become very comfortable in the water and on your board. Learn the fundamentals of water safety, basic maneuvers and techniques that will help make this an enjoyable experience. Take a lesson or just rent a board.
