I was born in the beautiful rural town of Mendocino, California growing up amongst the redwoods and spending a lot of time outdoors exploring all that California had to offer. Jake Barefoot and I have been friends since childhood and when he was in California visiting his family we spent most days together riding mountain bikes and doing typical outdoor kid stuff. I spent a lot of time in Hawaii throughout my life visiting my family on Oahu and Jake on Maui. Hawaii has always been a big part of me and it was always a goal of mine to live here permanently.
I attended college in Santa Barbara and later worked in the film industry in Los Angeles before I started traveling around the world for about two years. My adventures took me through Latin America, Asia and Europe. I learned a lot about the world and myself on these extended trips and brought back a new respect for the different people and landscapes of the earth. I find a great deal of joy in helping others, and am more than happy to help you answer any questions you have.
One of Maui’s newest activities is the Green Zebra Off Road Tours. They’re located right next to the Flyin' Hawaiian Ziplines Course at the Maui Tropical Plantation. They’re a bit different from the other off road tours on the island because they utilize “Tomcars”. Our guide explained that these vehicles were originally designed and manufactured by the Israeli Military. Since "Cruiser Bob" first pioneered the original Haleakala bike ride decades ago the format of the rides has changed, but the industry has remained the same in many ways. While Bob has long since left the industry, distinct larger then life individuals have followed in his footsteps and continue to rule the mountain. It was a typical bright sunny day in South Maui as we headed down to Makena to go for a sunset sail with Kai Kanani Catamaran. As we walked along the grassy path to the beach we saw the beautiful catamaran coming towards the shore. It gently glided up on the sand and we were welcomed aboard by the crew. This was my first time on this boat and I was quite amazed by its size and roominess. There were only about 20 people on board today so there was plenty of room to walk around and take in the sights.
