Honokowai Maui
Honokowai is one of those places on Maui that is known more as a region than a town. Located on Maui's west coast north of Kaanapali and south of Kahana, the nearest thing you could delegate as anything resembling a "center of town" would be the Honokowai Beach Park. This is located on the beach just across from a shopping center and grocery store which is also the site throughout the week of an outdoor farmers market.
Primarily Honokowai is a series of low-lying condos used mostly as vacation rentals for Maui visitors. Each separate condo complex is completely different from those around it in structure, pricing and amenities but the common thread that weaves them all together is that they are either directly on the water or within a minute of two's walk to the ocean. Honokowai's weather is also quite delightful and is generally quite sunny, particularly in the summer time. Ocean breezes often fill in about mid-day providing for a comfortable afternoon suitable for sitting on your lanai with a cold drink. It is also the closest town to the resort of Kaanapali which offers tremendous beaches, tons of shopping, spectacular golf and the best of restaurants. People staying in Honokowai can enjoy these Kaanapali amenities without having to pay the dear price tag that generally goes along with the hotel rooms found at the resort.
