Diving with Torpedo Tours off the coast of Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii will provide a different aspect to your diving experience. Torpedo Tours is the expert dive company in the state to provide you "torpedoes" to enhance your dive. Torpedoes are safe and easy to use and provide a number of interesting advantages not available to you on a regular dive. First of all you will be able to cover four times as much distance on a dive with a torpedo than without one as you cruise along at two knots per hour. Because the torpedo is providing all the power needed to propel your dive you will not need to kick as much and thus you will not expend as much energy and you will have a longer bottom time. Anytime you want you will be able to stop and then start again at will so you will be able to view whatever you want in detail at any point during your dive. You will also be able to keep up with fish as they swim such as rays, sharks and dolphins. The bottom time on a torpedo is about eighty minutes so you will have plenty of time to roam and the batteries are just switched out for your second dive. The two tank morning charter is 4.5 hours in duration and includes lunch. Optional fishing or dolphin and whale watching is included free of charge. Cruise along effortlessly through canyons, archways or even lava tubes! Cover four times the area without even kicking. Stop anytime you want, to examine a critter more closely, or just keep cruising... it"s up to you. Your Dive Master will keep a close eye on you to know when you"ve stopped to check something out. Keep up with rays, sharks and dolphins without sucking down your air. We recommend that you already possess good buoyancy skills for a more comfortable ride. If it"s been a while since your last dive, we recommend a regular dive to hone your skills, before adding a Torpedo. The battery life is 80 minutes. If your bottom time of your first dive is 80 minutes and you want to do a second Torpedo dive, we simply swap out the used battery for a new one. Underwater, the Torpedo is 2 pounds negative.

Intro Diving - Torpedo ToursDescription: A great way to sample scuba diving under instructor supervision. Also the first step in the Scuba certification course if you decide to continue the fun for two more days. You must be at least 10 years old and in good physical health to participate. The two tank tour is 4.5 hours in duration and includes dives to a maximum depth of 40 feet, all equipment, instruction and lunch is provided. One Tank Dive options available is approximately 2.5 hours in duration.

Manta Ray Dive or Snorkel - Torpedo ToursDescription: This could possibly be the highlight of your vacation. It is the most famous dive in the Hawaiian Islands. Rated also as one of the top ten dives in the world, it is often described as surreal. The dive is conducted in a calm, protected bay in shallow water. The dive boats park around the perimeter of a sandy area which is about thirty feet deep. All the divers gather together and sit on the bottom. The snorkelers float above. The plankton can now be concentrated in one area because it is attracted to our lights. The Mantas, who feed on plankton, cruise between the divers and snorkelers doing continuous flips and scooping up mouthfuls of plankton at their nightly buffet which results in a manta ballet that is truly majestic. Kona"s local Mantas can reach a 15 foot wingspan and over 1000 lbs.

Snorkel and Torpedoes - Torpedo ToursDescription: With or with out torpedoes. Go to remote destinations on a boat and take in the scenery both in and out of the water. It"s easy and exciting. You never know when a pod of dolphins will be waiting to play or a manta ray will be cruising by. Combine that with hundreds of species of colorful fish and calm, clear water and you"ll have yourself one fine way to spend the day. Knowledgeable crew will take you to the best spots for maximum critter interaction. This 4.5 hour cruise includes lunch and snorkel gear. Want to see even more? Torpedo Snorkeling add $30.00 The Torpedo is very easy to control and safe to use. For snorkelers, 9 and up, using a Torpedo does not require any prior experience. The Torpedo cruises at 2 knots which is about as fast as a freestyle swimming stroke. For snorkeling, a float vest is attached to the Torpedo, so you can let go anytime and the Torpedo will float. It will also turn off automatically as soon as you let go. Fun for the whole family! Snorkelers under the age of eight can ride "tandem" with an adult by holding onto a shoulder or fin of the "driver". You must be at least 9 years old to operate the Torpedo.

Specialty Dives - Torpedo Tours on HawaiiDescription: Deep Dives - To recreational limits of 130 feet, we have interesting sights including small wrecks. Encounter rarely seen species of fish, garden eels and colorful shrimp. In some places our coral reef extends to 130 feet and beyond! Most of our deep dives are a multilevel profile, so you will follow the contour of the reef up to shallower depths for an extended dive time and opportunity for more variety. Good buoyancy control is a must. Highly recommended for macro photographers.
Photography Dives - Our guides know where to find great critters. If photography is your passion, let us help you get the subjects you want. Some photography favorites include: turtle cleaning stations, shrimp cleaning stations, eels, octopus, frog fish, scorpion fish, lion fish, nudibranchs, sharks, dolphins, eagle rays and manta rays.
