OCEAN SAFARI KAYAK ADVENTURES Paddling Kona's clear, pristine waters for the past five years, Ocean Safari Kayak Adventures have introduced over 10,000 visitors and Kamaaina (Island Locals) to the fast growing sport of kayaking. Their focus is on small groups of adventurers making safety and fun top priority. All guided adventures are led by experienced watermen/women who are Red Cross CPR Certified and the company is fully insured. Ocean Safari assist with water safety at Kona's annual Ironman Triathlon as well as other water events. Every Kayak adventure is different and may include dolphin watching, snorkeling, sea cave exploration and maybe even supervised cliff jumping. You may see tidal pools filled with eels, sea turtles and colored fish while wild parrots can at times be seen flying overhead. A variety of Kona locations are offered with trips scheduled daily. MORNING KAYAK ADVENTURE - Keauhou Sea Cave Adventure After checking in, we outfit your personal kayak, (single or tandem) with lifejackets, backrests, paddles, snorkel gear and bottled water. We help you launch into calm and picturesque Keauhou Bay where we conduct a group instruction. The itinerary is explained as follows: After leaving Keauhou Bay (birthplace of Kamehameha the Great) we head south along the cliffs toward Kuamoo Bay. Along this stretch we look for dolphins, manta rays and turtles. There are interesting arches and blow holes along the cliffs. In Kuamoo Bay, we head for a sea cave that often allows us inside to explore its pink walls and aqua waters. Leaving Kuamoo Bay, we follow the coastline, and paddle over coral gardens and underwater lava tubes, 'till we arrive at the next cave which is almost always calm and cool. This is a dry lava tube above a cave that extends deep into the earth. (If you want to go in bring a flashlight). Check in at 8:15am Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 8:30am to 12:00noon year-round. Tuesday Only 9:30am to 1:00pm - Check in 9:15am
