Nui Pohaku Adventure Tours is a cycling or sightseeing adventure that takes place around the rim of one of the most active volcanoes in the world. | Description: Your day begins with a fully narrated drive from the Kona or Waikoloa area to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Fill your senses with the ride of a lifetime! Experience the volcano up close and personal as you ride through lush rainforest and lava frozen in time on your 21 speed mountain bike. Your cycling adventure takes place around the rim of one of the most active volcanoes in the world! It consists of mostly level terrain with a couple of small uphill and downhill sections thrown in for fun! Along with the cycling portion, you will hike through an incredible rainforest that leads you directly through an amazing lava tube. Stop at scenic overlooks to witness the heart of the volcano exploding at Halema"uma"u Crater. During your ride, you will stop at the Jagger Museum where you will see videos of the volcano erupting. The Jagger Museum is also home to many seismographs, which monitor every twitch of the earth. Throughout the tour your guide will share with you history and geology of the area during the frequent stops along the way - an exciting and active way to spend the day at the Hawai"i Volcanoes National Park!

Walk out to the new black sand beach at Kaimu, which has forever been changed by the lava flows in the early 1990"s. Next stop, search for molten lava! Your guide will take you on a short hike over the lava fields to view the incredible molten lava streaming down the mountain from the Pu"u O"o Vent. See lava in motion as it descends down to the sea. As the sun sets, you will experience a dramatic change in the landscape as the fire from the sea becomes alive in the darkness of this remote area.
