KapohoKine Adventures on Hawaii
KapohoKine Adventures offers sightseeing and land tours on the Big Island of Hawaii with a special emphasis on the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Tours are offered with departures from both the Kona side of the Big Island as well as from the Hilo side. Obviously tours that leave from the Kona side will be longer and more expensive than those leaving from Hilo because of the much longer driving time. You will appreciate the professional, friendly and informative guides who will share the wonders of the Big Island with you and they are all specially trained by park rangers. KapohoKine generally only takes small groups of thirteen passengers or less so you are guaranteed personalized service. Much of the focus of these tours is on the volcano areas of the island and you will enjoy short interpretive walks through rainforests, along lava trails, next to natural hot steam vents, through lava tubes and even visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Parks famous Jagger Museum at the rim of Halemaumau Crater. KapohoKine Adventures has provided excellent service over the years being both sophisticated and luxurious enough to be awarded the Princess Cruises "Best Tour" designation.
Evening Volcano Explorer-Hilo - KapohoKine AdventuresDescription: There is nothing quite as spectacular as seeing the volcano at night, and nobody takes you to where the action is quite like KapohoKine Adventures! Join in a thrilling discovery of Kilauea Volcano. We will take you to the Puna District on the East-side of the Big Island, our home and home to the best lava viewing locations. Enjoy a delicious picnic-style deli dinner with choice of beverage including sodas, juice and bottled water all at a private location before setting off for the heart of the volcano. We will drive as close as we safely can before setting off on foot to find the most recent surface outbreaks and ocean entries. Watch as the black, smoking landscape changes right before your eyes as the sun sets. Skylights in the lava tube system and surface flows suddenly glow bright red as the crackle and hiss of escaping gasses and liquid rock changing to solid seems to grow louder as the lava slowly marches to the sea. New land is being created and added to the Big Island right before your eyes, just as these islands have been created for millions of years! Participants need to be comfortable walking on loose, rocky and uneven surfaces. Usually all three at the same time. Those with breathing problems should not consider this tour.

Secrets of Puna Private - KapohoKine AdventuresDescription: This Private Tour starts with a short onboard audio-visual presentation. Cool off under swaying palm trees in a natural lava rock lagoon, feel the warmth of a black sand beach between your toes and four-wheel drive across the black lava flows to the Pacific Ocean, all on this private SUV excursion to the Puna District and Kilauea Volcano! Hear first-hand stories of life in Kalapana from the former residents who witnessed the destructive power of Kilauea Volcano while on your drive to where this destruction actually took place. Take a short walk across the lava flows which entomb the former village of Kalapana and find the new black sand beach of Kaimu. Take a relaxing drive along the scenic Puna coast and witness dramatic cliffs of lava rock overlooking the Pacific. Enjoy lunch at a private location, a delicious Hawaiian BBQ prepared just for you by your guide, at a working macadamia nut and honey farm complete with cold local beer and chilled French Champagne, juice, sodas and water. Learn what it's like to operate a macadamia nut farm sitting on the most active volcano in the world from the farmer herself, or just explore the gorgeous property. Next, your guide will take you for a drive into the 350 acre volcanic Kapoho Crater, home to pristine tropical rainforests and wild fruit trees like guava, banana, avocado, and coconut. Leaving the cool jungle behind, travel in your SUV across the stark black lava flows to find where the lava met the sea in the 1960 eruption. A wild place which is the easternmost point in Hawaii. This flow originated from a faultline which created a towering cinder cone, which you'll see standing in stark relief, a bright red reminder of the power of Kilauea Volcano. Finally, your guide will share a beautiful coastal lagoon, protected by reef, and home to tropical fish and the occasional giant green sea turtle. Swim, snorkel, or explore the fascinating coastline here before your return.
