Winter months on the North Shore of Oahu translate into two things: large surf and whales. The North Shore Catamaran spends much of its winter schedule visiting these Humpback Whales that find themselves along this coastline during this season. The fact that the whales are located far off the coastline is ideal at this time of year for these tours because the excessively large surf that we often have then can become dangerous if your boat gets too close to the shoreline. | Description: The North Shore of Oahu has more whale sightings than any other location on Oahu. Last season there were over 700 sightings and two double breeches in the Haleiwa Harbor Channel. Between December and May, the giant mammals are on their way to the warm waters of Hawaii for mating and calving, migrating from Alaska and the Bering Sea. A cruise along Oahu's North Shore is almost like a trip back in time, with a panorama resembling a turn-of-the-century painting. The stage is set for the humpback and his spontaneous show! This is one trip that you will want to bring along your video and plenty of film to shoot the antics of the 45-ton humpbacks in action.*
Departure Point: Departs from Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor, about an hours drive from Waikiki.
Operates: Morning trips leave at 9:00am and return at 11:30pm. Afternoon trips leave at 12:00pm return at 2:30pm
