Kualoa Ranch
Kualoa Ranch is one of the largest and most photographed attractions on the island of Oahu. The Ranch offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, educational programs and scenic tours and is truly one of Oahu's most beautiful secrets. Established in 1850, Kualoa is a four-thousand acre working cattle ranch. Located on the northeastern side of Oahu-this is a spot found well into the country with steep and picturesque mountain cliffs, rolling meadowlands and views of the sparkling coastline. The ranch takes up an entire valley and is a paradise for outdoor recreation. This area is so beautiful that it has been chosen as the site and backdrop for many of the blockbuster movies you have seen on the silver screen. Once at the ranch there is much to do. You will have the opportunity to go on an Adventure Tour with your choice of a Horseback or ATV ride - also you have the opportunity to sign up for any one of a number of their Experience Land Tours: such as Hawaiian Fishpond and Garden Tour, Movie Sites and Ranch Tour, Ancient Hula Lessons, or a Jungle Expedition Tour or Experience Ocean Tours such as Ocean Voyaging or Secret Island (requires minimum of 2 hours and counts as 2 tours in any package) swimwear recommended or the Legends and Legacy 20 minute tour for an additional small fee. This 800 years old, 125 acre Hawaiian fishpond, is one of the largest and most well preserved ponds left in Hawaii. Paliku Exploration - in the ancient days, before Hawaii was "discovered" the area Kualoa was one of the most sacred places on the island of Oahu. The dramatic mountain was name "Paliku". This tour, with its magnificent views of windward Oahu, Kaneohe Bay, Mokoli"i Island and the Pacific Ocean tells the history of Kualoa. Tour includes a short hike to the top of a ridge that has 360 degrees of spectacular views. Jungle Expedition - board your 6-wheel drive Swiss Pinzgauer and rumble along jungle trails and up the lush, remote Hakupu"u Valley for fantastic ocean and mountain views. This backcountry adventure tour will maneuver through isolated streambeds, power up hills and tackle rough terrain going to secluded spots that overlook the dramatic windward coastline. Movie Sites and Ranch - board ranch buses for a delightful one hour narrated tour across Kualoa Ranch and into gorgeous Ka"a"awa Valley to experience where many of Hollywood"s biggest block buster movies and television shows were filmed. Look for the Jurassic Park site, find Godzilla"s footprints, see the Windtalkers battleground and visit many more landmark locations. You may actually get to see some filming in progress.
