Volcano Air is the company to choose if you’re interested in seeing the incredible volcanic activity on the Big Island of Hawaii from the air in a plane that departs from Maui. Since 1993, Volcano Air has been flying daily air tours over one of the most dramatic and active geologic events on the planet. These flights are very much in demand and often book days in advance. There are departures available from both the Kahului and Kapalua airports offering direct roundtrip service over the volcano and then back to Maui. | Description: The flight will follow the north shore of Maui to Hana, (or weather permitting, over Haleakala!) and then across the Alenuihaha Channel to the north shore of The Big Island. The tour features spectacular cliffs, valleys, and waterfalls on the way down the Hamakua Coast to the Hilo area. Then the tour continues on to the Pu"u O"o Vent, viewing inaccessible regions of the volcano area and all active flows. The tour then proceeds back toward Maui, either through the saddle between Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, or North of Mauna Kea over the Parker Ranch. After crossing the channel again, you follow the South Shore of Maui back to the point of origin. Each tour is a unique adventure and about 2 hours long.
